Sarkozy Bakery and, of course, Judy herself are Kalamazoo icons, and for good reason. The bread warms the soul and the food, from soup to pizza, makes for a delicious meal. But more importantly the people, the staff, are just wonderfully kind-hearted and warm. As a trans woman, I feel as welcome as anyone else, which isn't a guarantee. Additionally, Judy is wonderful at giving back to the community and partnering with local organizations like Queer Theatre Kalamazoo and the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. My niece and I stumbled upon the bakery while roaming downtown Kalamazoo. I bought some sourdough bread...I wish I had the ability to eat the entire loaf in one sitting. We can’t wait to go back when the restaurant is available for dine in and try their food.
Best Rye bread and Brötchen in SW Michigan!
Enjoyed light lunch of pizza with a very good thin crust while listening to The Living Room Musicians play. Ken and Judy often have different musicians on Sundays and Ken always seems to have a new piece of his art to display.
Raspberry squares are awesome, delicious. Out of this world. Very friendly staff and we got to meet the owner-lovely lady. Lemon cookies were great too. You really cant go wrong with this bakery. We will return again.
