Home Services at The Home Depot

I had some carpet installed. The basement was done well, however, the three bedrooms upstairs had to be fixed four times. The installer was unprofessional. I was putting my registers in for my floor vents and noticed the carpet was not stuck to the floor in that area. I began to check other areas and realized that I could pick up the carpet with two fingers in places and see nail tact strips. I contacted home depot, who sent someone to try to fix it. Again I called home depot to say that it was not fixed. They sent out the original installer with a manager who has never laid carpet. The manager told me that if I pulled straight up on the carpet with just two fingers that I would pull the carpet up, but if I pulled at an angle it would not come up. I contacted the installation team and asked if this was accurate, another manager who has carpet laying experience told me that it was not. She came out to inspect the carpet and they put more staples in to keep it in place. I was not given any compensation for my wasted time or the fact that the it took attempting to fix the carpet three times before it was installed properly. Needless to say, it was a frustrating experience and I would not trust them with another carpet install.

Don't like the way Home Depot sets up home improvement work. You can get any contractor that could be horrible and try to tell you more work needs to be done than what you wanted. They need a better way to do this.

Do not use Home Depot for carpet installation !nFor my experience they tore everything up and then told me they need to reschedule a week later. They expected me to live without one bathroom and my sons room stripped to the floor and a living room with everything moved to one side. During the week my kids injured themselves on the exposed tack strip and nails. Upon returning one week later the installer told me he brought me a better pad than what I bought and wanted to know if that was ok I thought they maybe offering an olive branch for the trouble. They installed it the next day I took my pictures and my contract to the store and found ou that the installer Home Depot contracted lied to me and installed a pad much cheaper than I paid. Now seams are appearing not even a month after install!nHome Depot will not back me on any of the issues instead they offered to knock $271 off the amount I paid but I would have to sign off on the install and accept as is. They told me that was their final offer and I had to take it but that is what they are offering. What about the seams the wrong padding my kids inconvenience and the lie about the padding. I told them it was not what I want just fix the problems they will not do that instead they want me to sign my rights away and settle for crappy padding and shorty workmanship. I refuse to sign their settlement and they refuse to back their install and service.nIn conclusion I can not recommend Home Depot to anyone unless you want to pay for crappy work and be taken advantage of with a bait and switch padding. I wonder home many people have paid more for the padding and received a much less quality of pad and they don't even know it? Maybe Dateline should do an undercover piece on Home Depot installs and expose how they are ripping people off!
