I can only say that I was very upset about the train ride. The best things on the train were the friendliness of the staff. They were the nicest ever and coffee and cheesecake for desert was nice but that was it. The ride was basically behind trees almost the entire ride. The video they show with it being wide open does not match the ride. We only had open scenic areas occasionally.nnWe paid the $110 per person but discovered that this is not a separate scenic train but a local commuter train that is used for tourism, we simply were in cars on the other end. That would have been ok because West Virginia residence needs the income and transportation in rural areas but they could have atleast cleaned the carpet and chairs, it was dirty and smelly. I had to get up and keep walking out to get some fresh air. The seats in the diner car were very small not a lot of room. Last but not least was my prime rib. It was tough as a piece of leather. First one they brought me was too rare and the second was better but man I had to stop on the way home and get something to eat. They didn't even have steak sauce. The 2 stars are only for the wonderful staff otherwise I would give this a zero.

This was a great train ride along an amazing scenic route. We were able to see some many bald eagles during the ride, it was great. I really enjoyed the gondola experience. We rode in coach class, which was nice. I think we will be back and will try our the first class section with the meal. The train moves along at a nice pace and I enjoyed the guide (over the sound system) pointing out key historical areas and where to look for them. We did this ride Middle of October and the trees were absolutely beautiful. Well worth the drive and cost of the tickets. Glad we did this ride. I would like to come back and do a Winter ride with snow on the ground, that would be amazing.

Awesome time. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We did the Combo Pass but mostly enjoyed the Trough. The views going to Green Springs are better in a vehicle. Wouldn't recommend Green Springs. But overall a very peaceful and enjoyable excursion.nnDidn't really enjoy the food in First Class but would definitely visit again. Didn't eat the breakfast casserole but it wasn't awful. The potatoes and salsa were pretty tasty. Lunch was just ok. Maybe just do the coach and bring our own food on our next trip.nnSeating in First Class was not what I expected. Very old style and uncomfortable. I've been on a few other similar train rides and the upkeep of the trains are much better.

We went on the Potomac Eagle ride today and loved it. My Mom, our friend Mona, my friend Jan and I went on this adventure. We had a great time. Bear buses took us to the train and back. They were absolutely awesome also. The weather was wonderful and we saw eagles.

Beautiful scenery. The narration let's you know the history of all the things you are looking at. The food was delicious. Everyone was very nice and eager to point out anything that was interesting to see along the way. Definitely worth the price paid.
