Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chalmette - New Orleans S

After booking a room over the phone with IHG for 2 queen beds for one night, we arrived at 11:30pm and was given a single king bed. I explained to the front desk lady that, unfortunately, I could not accept a king bed because I had three kids and my wife with me and we could not fit in one bed. She explained to me that she gave me what was available regardless of if I reserved a room or not. After further pleading my reason for needing double beds she decided to give us a double bed but in order for her to switch the room my family had to wait outside in order for her to give us a new room. I was very confused as to why my family had to wait outside of the hotel and there were other people sitting in the lobby. I explained to her how absurd her request was but she continued to tell me that we would not receive a new room unless we waited outside. I didn't and decided to refuse the room all together because it was more than clear she did not want me or my family at the hotel. I asked for a refund and she explained that in order for me to get a refund I had to contact IHG. At this point she became irate and telling me I was not getting a refund, and if I didn't leave she would call the police. I politely asked her to call the police and waited until they got there and I allowed the witnesses to explain the situation and allowed her to explain her side as well. Before I could even speak to the police officers they were very upset at the treatment that was given to me and my family for no apparent reason. As an African American male I have experienced being profiled quite often but I am very careful with the way I handle these situations because my goal is to make it home to my family. This situation hurt a lot differently because my wife, 14 year old daughter, my nine-year-old daughter, and my two-year-old son had to witness this situation happen, and to see them all confused and crying really hurt me. I've stayed at many IHG properties and have never experienced this type of treatment but I want to make sure that no one ever has to go through what I, and my family, went through in our stay.

The absolute worst hotel experience of my life. And I’m not talking about coffee or an unclean room. The girl who worked the late evening of Saturday March 13th needs to be fired.

Love staying here. Great people running the front makes the stays here very pleasant.

Excellent. All clean and brand new. Well located. Nice area and close to the French quarter.

It's a nice hotel, but they control the air in the rooms at night to save money and we were sweating! Also, they did not come to the room to see if we needed towels or to clean! And, they don't have a generator incase of a power outage! But, the people at the front desk were nice! I give it a 2!
