I and my Husband’s experience was honestly honestly great! Kudos to the staff for such an orderly and smooth set up and attention to everyone present there physically. As of October 7, 2020 we arrived as early as 6:10am and were the first in line till they opened and attended to us by 9:00/10:00am. Thank you so much to all the staff. Today was an awesome day for us. Many Many blessings to you all.

Good staff, on time, they resumed 9am by 9.20 they started calling names from list. Though not everyone will be attended to on that day, as some people invitation is Nigeria made. Man know man don't work. Innovate prepared the list. I hard the person that took my biometric discussing this on phone. Just stay at home until you are invited. They can do better, if staff strength is improved and adhere strictly on list. Nigerians too must be patient.

This place is a mad house . The employees have no customer service skills at all. I applied for a new passport due to change in marital status and up until today, I have not received my passport. I went there yesterday and they couldn't find my documents. I had to go and make fresh copies of all my documents. I came back , submitted my documents and I was told that I have to submit additional documents which I have to obtain from Nigeria. Can you imagine that after two years of waiting. My advice to my fellow Nigerians living here in the States is to renew your passport in Nigeria. It's faster and easier. How I wish I don't have to go back again because it's very stressful.

I wish I could give them zero or negative stars. This consulate is the most disrespectful representation and reflection of a whole country. Absolutely no regard for people's time. I don't understand how a whole consulate never answers the phone. My cousin (a student at Texas Tech) was given an appointment to renew his passport on Christmas Eve. He had been calling the consulate for months to see if the date could be changed. We went a week before to see if we could be seen prior to our appointment date. We were not allowed to proceed through the gate onto the premises and were told to report at our given appointment date and time. We live more than 2 hours away and showed up on our given date on Christmas Eve, but they were closed. People drive from different states to come to the consulate. Imagine driving say 4 hours away just to turn around? How does a consulate of the most populated country in the African continent lack common sense or not value people's time.nn5 years ago, my wife tried to change her last name to reflect the married name. Unbelievably, her passport was renewed with her maiden name and she was then told at pickup that no consulate or embassy in the U.S. can change the name on her passport. i.e., as a Nigerian, she had to get a visa to go to Nigeria to have her last name changed. Yes, we did eventually go to Nigeria to change her last name.nThis is the culture of the Nigerian government - remarkable incompetence and ineptitude. I find it hard to believe that this is the best the Nigerian government can do. Hence, the conclusion that the government is doing nothing but stealing from its people. Stealing their time, money and values.nnIf you are able to go to the Nigerian Embassy in D.C. or the consulate in NY, please do. While they are not perfect, they are still tolerable and won't be a complete waste of time.

Judging and going by all the reviews here, I am dang on scared proceeding with anything. I was told however that there are middle men charging as high as $365 to assist one with this process, which makes me question, when my mother land would purge herself of her corruption? Also, is anyone in the consulate in charge of reading these reviews and relaying it to the people in charge? I mean, it is a shame to have 2 star rating and you are not doing anything about it. You really need to do better even though I know, people have no option but to use your services. It would be fair to update and abreast us of any info on the website because time is money and majority of us are employees that need to take time off work and travel. Your empathy is all l am soliciting here as l know you can't be held liable for anyway you choose to treat me.
