A nice large cemetery just east of old town. It is nice to stroll about and pay respects to the many interred here, including but not limited to the Byrd Family, John Handley, former business magnate CB Rouss, Revolutionary War hero General Daniel Morgan, and the first cemetery for Confederate dead after the war, in 1866, both known and unknown. The leafless trees and cawing of the crows adds to the ambience here greatly, and I would highly recommend a visit here if you would like to.

Stonewall Confederate Cemetery is a subsection of the larger Mount Hebron Cemetery. Final resting place of countless Confederate soldiers, many of whom were buried in mass unmarked graves here. A lot of beautiful and one of a kind monuments and memorials. Lots of history in this cemetery in general, including the gravesites of Judge John Handley and Revolutionary War hero, Daniel Morgan. If you are interested in history, this is an excellent cemetery to visit.

It really is humbling to be around such ancestral history. Beautiful place. With the winter snow on the ground, barren trees and foreboding overcast sky. Magnificent!!

Cool cemetery. Nice wall or something. Handley grave good also. Just very picturesque place. Quality looking place. If you look at the pictures you get a better idea than any words though. Civil war graves also.

Great walk, closes at 6pm, so no summer sunset photos, bummer. Very large, bring water. No paper maps to pick up, but you can go in the welcome center ans take a photo of the map. Very useful map, to find some of the sections and monuments.
