Mother nature’s at its finest. The aerial view is amazing but doesn’t truly so you the depth and scale of the Sangre De Christo mountain range. Storms can roll in quick depending on the the time of year.

I hiked the Willow lake trail and then up to Challenger peak. The views are spectacular even before you reach the lake, and the lake itself if like something put of this world. One thing I will say is don't even go near the trail unless you have bug spray because the mosquitos are really bad until your halfway up the climb to Challenger. If you want to stop and take a more than 2 minute break you need bug spray the trail after the lake is quite the climb, so be prepared with good shoes and a lot of time, summer storms come around 3 every day and you need to be back at the tree line before that.

This may be the most interesting and geographically diverse part of Colorado. The Crestones are nothing short of majestic and their prominence as a range second to none in the Rockies. Because of the surrounding flat land the area has more of a Madrean sky island feel in regards to wildlife than ranges further north and west. Highly recommend.

Amazing wilderness! Silence and solitude combine to create enchantment and serenity. I recommend the Comanche/Venable/Hermit Pass loop.

Absolutely beautiful views.nnSummit of challenger is a near 2000ft climb in the last 1.5 milesnStart before daybreak if you want to summit!
