Our children started Mrs. Barton's program with zero piano experience. Soon after, they were not only familiar with the basics, but were able to read and recognize the notes in the clef and on the piano, have the correct hand posture, and play some songs. The book exercises and the recommended iPad applications that she provides make the daily piano practice, and home reinforcement easier and appealing for the kids. Mrs. Barton makes her classes fun and personalized to the individual needs of the child.
I can't say enough good about Gina and her music school. My three kids all LOVE it and have been thriving. We have had her help us find a great deal on a grand piano with her piano finding service and it was a fantastic experience and she got us an amazing deal on a piano. THEN . . . wait for it . . . she has magically helped my kids love to play it! They have been progressing and we enjoy the musical sounds in our home. I could go on and on, but i'll try to be be brief by saying that she teaches each of my children differently and very customized to their personality and it is fun to watch. It's not a cookie cutter program where everyone does the same things. She is also good at finding that right balance between rigid perfectionism and complete chaos that both produce anxiety in the student. Instead, she helps establish self-forgiveness and playfulness in learning how to learn. A teacher should teach a student how to learn, and that's just what she does. I wish i could give 6 or 12 or 100 stars!
Barton Music School is very convenient for us because it is only a couple minutes away, which is especially helpful when you have multiple children. Mrs. Barton is a very skilled and knowledgeable educator and very aware of the different personalities, strengths and weaknesses of each child. Our children have been attending the group classes, and we feel that it is very helpful for them to see other children similar to their own ages playing piano as well.
Having a separate waiting room where we can observed from the tv screen is very helpful to be aware of what they are working on without having to physically be in the same room as the class (for my children, they tend to behave better when they don’t see mom or dad around, if you know what I mean ;)).
We are always very impressed with how technology Mrs. Barton is, and how she utilizes it when our children can’t physically attend class.

Gina is amazing. She has been teaching our son for about a year now and we love the progress he is making. Gina uses a mix of traditional teaching methods with lots of technology. It works perfectly with young children because they can be so easily distracted. Not only that, but she teaches non-stop! She always seems to have students coming in and out of her studio. I have never seen her lose patience - I don't know how she does it! She teaches each student at their level and makes sure they have mastered a technique before moving on. Even I have learned a few things while listening in on her lessons!
You get personal attention. Gina does not give up. She persists until her students get it. We are amazed at our son's piano skills. He started out playing keys one at a time and now he plays songs fluently with confidence. Thanks to Gina Barton.
