Consulate General of Portugal

Today I had an appointment to get my cartão de cidadão. Marta was extremely professional and patient. Super friendly and efficient. I was done with the whole process in under 20 minutes. I was even seen earlier then my appointment. Appointments are hard to get here and there is a long waiting period to even get an appointment due to a surge and not enough people working there. So I wouldn't miss an appointment if you happen to get one.

I just had a very pleasant appointment with the Newark Portugal consulate. The lady who greeted me was very sweet and nice. The lady who handled my case was efficient and friendly. I can not thank them enough for such a pleasant experience.

I was so pleasantly surprised by how prompt, friendly and helpful everyone was at the consulate. It is unfortunate that appointments are months out, but once there, the staff is excellent.

If people think the US is a mess try this consulate of Portugal. It is 10/7 and the next available appointment is 4/22 almost seven months out! The website to make an appointment seems like it was built in the 90's. This is nuts if you need renewals for passports or citizens cards that have expired or will be. Now if you are a friend or family member of an employee this does not apply.nnSuggestion just like the US you should be able to apply for a renewal through the mail to avoid the insane backlog of time to get an appointment.
