The Willa Cather Center is an international center in Red Cloud, Nebraska. It offers numerous insights into the life of Will Cather. There is a tour of Willa's childhood home and there is another tour of quite a few of the sites in the county mentioned in Willa's many books. The Opera House furnishes a wide variety of renowned talent. Willa had a wonderful talent for painting pictures with her words, describing the characters in her books and the ever-changing glorious Nebraska landscapes, sun rises, and sunsets.

What a neat place to visit. My tour guide was a fount of information and all the staff were very helpful. Incredible history on Willa Cather. I could have spent the whole day in red cloud.

Nicely done, but could be so much more. No activities for children. Guide was pleasant and knowledgeable, but when asked deeper questions, we didn't feel she knew or was reticent to answer. Red cloud needs to become a destination, not a stop for people. Visit Madora, ND or Desmit, SD for inspiration and design & build an adventure for families. As for structures, make a couple great instead of many mediocre. Put a period rail car in front of the depot. Have reenactors put on shows in the opera house on weekends (give her graduation speech). Bring Willa Cather back to life along with her stories.
