Not only does Purdy’s strive to set themselves apart from your run-of-the mill coffee joint with their signature brews like the Beekeeper, in equal parts they also provide a cozy, elbow-rubbing environment that draws you into temptations of slowing down and getting one for the house instead of to-go. Located in the heart of Richmond’s downtown, it is the perfect place to get your cup of mud, whether you are a student attending EKU or a local in need of their caffeine fix.

I've been twice now. My first time, the place was jam packed, my order took pretty long, and it was loud. A crowd's chatter as well as coffee machines together in a room with high ceilings is a sure fire way to get noisy. It's pretty high energy, in a good way.nThe second time I went was a different story. Rather than going during peak hours, I came in 45 minutes before closing. The atmosphere was entirely transformed. Rather than getting in line at the register, I had an exchange with the worker cleaning up, and then they took my order. The only people in the building were quietly sitting and working. My coffee came out quickly. It felt much more hospitable than my first trip. Super relaxing and friendly.nnBoth of my visits to Purdy's have been enjoyable. As far as the usual questions people have: the coffee costs the usual amount, and what you lose in the wait times is made up for in the taste. It's a solid local experience, and I highly recommend it.

Got the farmhouse breakfast sandwich and it wasn't that great. $5 for a bacon, egg n cheese on a everything bagel that has 3 half pieces of bacon that are undercooked. Not worth it. Coffee is ok. Sandwich is just upsetting!

Great coffee with very friendly staff. A good place to study or just hang out. They have non-coffee options and really good food. Has vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options.
