I was an apprentice at the boatshop in 2003. The shop makes around two dozen Monhegan Island skiffs each year, and sells these boats, which are often used as tenders in rough water. Each boat is an individual work of art which is the result of hundreds of hours of work, usually by one apprentice working under the supervision of a master boatbuilder.
