I was craving something sweet, naturally this is where I went. I was disappointed that they still use white sugar and not cane sugar. European baking is very tasteful and not very sugary. The items I purchased were too sweet and I couldn't enjoy them. Limited selection of pastries with whipped cream. Also, I didn't notice a gluten free selection.
There are a few Oak Mill branches around. This one is huge compared to the one I used to go to in Wicker Park. Very elegant pastries, all delicious. Some innovative and beautiful. Some Eastern European classics.

I’ve always thought the cakes here were decent at best, but now they’ve gone completely downhill. First of all, they freeze all their cakes so nothing is actually fresh. The cake I bought last week had absolutely no flavor. I have never ever had a bland cake before... I don’t even know how that’s possible they truly pulled off a feat. The cakes are overpriced and uninspired. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.
