Van Hemert's Dutch Oven Bakery - Ames, IA

I actually like the sandwiches and breads more than the sweets, but I tend to lean more towards savory always have. The sandwiches are pretty expensive though for being like sandwiches you'd serve at some fancy party sooo small. Tiny. Eight dollars and tiny. My mom got a ham sandwich and a cream puff and it was twelve dollars. You could go to a steakhouse for that. And my God so so unfriendly. When mom and I stopped in the older woman was okay but the cute young brunette was all gushy with mom and kept giving me dirty looks. I'm used to that my mom is miss personality but what was up with the dirty looks? She didn't even look pretty after she did that. I already have social anxiety disorder. I had hurt feelings for like two days. I don't stop in here often now. The one in Boone had better food and friendlier.

Delicious rolls and donuts and they've got the classic huge glass display case. Kids love picking out a roll! Great local business!

Really great pastries and breakfast croissant sandwiches here. Plus all the staff wear masks, so this place felt safe and tasted great!
