It pains me to leave moderate reviews since I know all small businesses are trying really hard right now esp during the pandemic, but I hope this gets to the owners. Got a few slices of cake, which were absolutely gorgeous to look at, but in the end, disappointing to this cake lover and small business supporter.nnTiramisu: this was beautiful to look at and a good size for the price. But as I dug in, my plastic utensil bent out of shape because it was frozen on the inside. I turned out eating chunks of icy ricotta.nnCarrot cake: again, beautiful to look at. But even though the flavor of carrot cake was there, it was so sweet that I had to put my fork down after two bites. Owners I promise you, I will come back to get the carrot cake again if you can put more effort into the carrot and raisin flavors as you do the amount of sugar dumped into the batter. Cakes don’t need to be so sweet that my throat burns.nnChocolate cake: third cake I got and also gorgeous to look at. But again, it was more sweet than it was chocolate flavored. Again, it was so sweet my gums felt a little funny.nnAll in all, I want to support this business again as you can tell they’re trying real hard! But to get me to be a return customer for your desserts, please know that there’s a whole generation of dessert lovers who don’t love things *this* sweet. Please note, this doesn’t mean that I want artificial/natural sweetener substitutes (I don’t)— it just means that we want to enjoy these cakes for their flavors, not their sugar intensity. If they had decent coffee, the Sweet Shop Bakery would be five stars, easy. Great place to sit, decent fare if you have a sweet tooth. Would be nice if there was more on offer for lunch, but the biggest problem is the gas station quality coffee.

Very pretty town. Always a pleasure to visit. Love the bake shop.

Recently ordered our wedding cake, as this bakery hadn’t let us down in the past. We paid good money for good cakes for the past 10 years. However, our wedding cake was a hot mess- though it had dowels and was kept level in a cool car, it still managed to fall apart. It was also poorly decorated, resembling a Chinese knock-off of what we had in mind. My mom was constantly trying to piece it back together from the car ride to the venue, throughout the wedding, up until we cut the cake. Yes, it was hot out, but it was still falling apart while sitting level in very cool car. The owner refused any sort of compensation other than a 6-inch cake. She said we should’ve had it delivered, which we would have, but it was never offered when we ordered it. (I think the cake still would’ve fell apart if they had delivered it.) She declined to see photos of the messy cake, and would not give a partial refund we asked for. We paid $200 for a MAX $100 cake. Good, successful business owners will know how imperative good customer service is- especially to longtime customers. We’ll be doing our future business elsewhere.

So good to eat when you have a minute to get there.
