I have worked several times with the personal of the Consulate General of Spain in Houston, Texas and I must say I have always had an excellent experience. One time I was in Spain during summer vacation and I wanted to renew my DNI in one of the National Police offices in the center of Madrid. At the office I was told I needed a certificate of residency. It was frustrating for me because I couldn't renew my DNI without that document. I was just staying for a few more days in Spain. I contacted by email the Consulate General of Spain in Houston. I explained my situation and quickly they responded to my email and sent the certificate to the Police Office while I was there waiting. Finally, I renewed my DNI that same day. It was awesome. I felt supported. Big thanks to the Consulate of Spain Team.
Be aware! Bering Drive has lots of dips, potholes the road is uneven in some areas.
No that bad. I probably deal with the only kind employee there but was smooth and polite... But far from a five of course... Que al fin y al cabo es Ejpaña.
I have never been so badly treated at a consulate or any sort of government related office. They talked and yelled at me like a criminal, it was shocking.nnI am an US citizen with a work visa and a very expensive apartment in Spain. This was the only consulate I was able to reach for basic information throughout the pandemic and they refused to even acknowledge me. The woman was extremely rude and hostile, with a very aggressive tone she completely cut me off to yell at me that I am wasting her time because she has an obligation to residents of Texas and she’s simply not answering anything at all from me... (The basic information I needed would have taken less time than her rant.)nnThis will be heavily reported both in the US and in Spain when the pandemic is over. As an equal professional I am fully aware of the consequences these bureaucrats will face for the way they have treated me and their tone of voice. I was simply asking for clearance in regards to the borders and who is able to enter Spain right now.
We had a horrible experience there. I’m sharing this as a warning to those who would like to acquire a non lucrative or for that fact any kind of visa. Please try to go to a different consulate if possible!nI was overly prepared and had extra copies and was even told that it was messy! I’m a teacher and extremely organized so this was the first interesting thing that happened there. Be very very careful when asked for the bank account statements as it’s not the same amount that you see on their website and they will tell you differently once you’re there. My husband’s a doctor and we both found the young lady behind the counter to be extremely rude and disorganized. They also wouldn’t accept our statements as signed through the medical facilities in our city(once again, my husband is an md).n***THE MAIN PROBLEM....please be careful and double check the Houston consulate’s work!!! ***We went to process our residency cards in Spain and the staff at the Foreigners Office in Spain told us that the consulate in Houston had not processed our data as they should have. I’m not sure how or why this happened but they said it was a huge mistake. Thank goodness I’m fluent in Spanish as I was able to meet with the head of the department and he had to “fix” the situation. Otherwise as told by the Foreign Affairs Office in Spain, we would have had to go back home.nOverall it was a nightmare. This is coming from somebody that lived in Spain 15 years ago for 5 years and has gone through residency before.
