If I was only reviewing the great assortment of macarons, I’d say it was great and the taste of each I ordered was very good. I’ll likely get more in the future (to go). But, the carrot cake was surprisingly underwhelming. The outer icing layer was light whipped cream and not a traditional cream cheese icing. The cake was disappointingly simple. The service at the counter was good. The service at our table was rushed short and lacking. We arrived 35 minutes before close just to grab a quick dessert. We left just after the doors were locked. We saw multiple people come in after us only to be rushed to order and sat in a barely cleaned dining section with a dirt pile swept in the center of the room. Multiple people were stopped at the door by our waitress and told abruptly “we’re closed”. One customer arriving was just trying to pick up an order she had placed ahead of time. It was sadly unprofessional service by the waitress.

They seem to operate as if there is no pandemic. No curbside pickup or phone/online ordering. I stood in line for 25 minutes. I used to love this place, but now they make Midwestern style American bread...aka...the bigger and fluffier the better. Not French style anymore. Monster sized croissants without the right consistency and no crunchy crust. “French baguettes” that were as soft as wonder bread, flopping over without crust. Disappointing. .

I'm a big fan of this bakery and I always had been bought birthday cakes for whole members of my family. I bought large fruit cake and one piece of carrot cake on 3/20/21 Saturday then I opened cake box on 3/21/21 Sunday. The carrot cake was perfectly fine and very good, but as soon as I opened a fruit cake box, I found rotten grapes. After that I tried to eat the cake, strawberries inside of the cake were really bad, almost rotten. The fruit cake must be fresh, but my cake seems to be displayed in long time. The cake was almost $50, but it was not worth it this time. I was really disappointed. Seriously, I'm considering whether to revisit here next time.

I bought a fruit cake, a spinach and cream cheese croissant, and a slice of German chocolate cake. The croissant was ok. The bread was great but the filling was all spinach and a pinch of cream cheese. My mom loved the German chocolate cake (I bought it for her). She said it was moist, but hard in some parts. But my fruit, two thumbs down. I had this same cake at a bakery in Silver Spring, MD, and I was so in love with it that I wanted one for my birthday. I was so excited about this cake. I stood in line at least 20/30 minutes (it was a Sunday afternoon). The cake wasn’t moist, but it was soft, if that makes any sense. The icing wasn’t good. It had a bitter taste to it. And the fruit was pretty, but didn’t taste fresh. So I am very displeased. Also, the lady seemed to be irritated that I asked if they could heat up my croissant. All in all, I don’t think I’d return.
