There isn't a way to rate this place. Vicksburg has a storied past and that's putting it ...lightly. As haunting as New Orleans (where I'm from), there's a general feel of something forsaken in this town and with good reason on all fronts. And here we have a newly 'rediscovered' African-American cemetery that features everything from unmarked graves of old to folks buried in the 70's. Black folks in Vicksburg have always faced some of the worst societal negligences America can boast of and you can see this evidenced still in their two dilapidated cemeteries (there are probably more than two). This one was unearthed in a patch of overgrown between a Mexican Restaurant and a 'Big Lots' shopping center by developers looking to expand. One (awesome-sounding) Veteran is trying to get folks to save it. I went there myself and photographed every gravestone I could find, crumbled or not. I'll add them here, and on findagrave.com
