After buying a new house during COVID-19, we decided to support local business by buying a new bed set at Park Furniture. This was the biggest mistake yet through the entire home buying process. With COVID-19 delays, we were told that the bed set would be delivered 5 weeks later. The Friday before the delivery week, I called where the representative who said there was a delay of at least another 2-3 weeks. I asked if they could provide a discount for this extended delay for which they promptly said, “no, it’s not our fault” taking no responsibility for the delay or their customer’s satisfaction. The next week, I reached out regarding what to do if there were quality issues with any of the items (i.e., ordering replacement parts) as we had a few issues with Ashley Furniture pieces before. Their response was that there was nothing they could do regarding quality once it was delivered but they would do a check before delivering. Then, before I could even respond, I received a message back stating that they have decided to cancel my order saying “My supervisor rather give you back your money since we are already thinking there will be issues. The way the economy is now we can’t afford to have any issues and to keep the merchandise.” We really wanted to support local, small businesses in our community, but it is evident that Park Furniture does not put the customer at the heart of their business and instead is worried about their bottom line. We understand that COVID-19 has raised unprecedented challenges for small businesses but it seems as though Park furniture doesn’t want to support those who are going out of their way to support them, thereby losing a lifelong customer. We have been very disappointed by this business and would 100% not recommend using them for your furniture needs.
