Oaklawn Mausoleum & Memory Gardens

I should be zero stars. My father was buried Jan. 2020 and the tombstone was just put up. And it just fell down. They are not suppose to fall over unless they are not put in place correctly. This is absolutely disgusting to have to explain to his 9 and 10 year old grandchildren why his gravesite is like this, it has not even been a year. Pouring salt on a massive wound to them. It is shameful to not show respect for our veterans.

My grandad passed the week before July 4th. The people were rude to deal with and charged almost 4 times what the normal cost of opening a grave- because it was a holiday weekend. Nothing like screwing you over during your time of mourning. I will never recommend Oaklawn for any purpose to anyone. Giving zero stars wasn’t an option. It was bad enough that if given the option I would have my loved ones moved to another cemetery !nThey also tried to bury my grandfather in a vault that was broken and another one that had a hole in it. The backhoe ran out of fuel and the operator was not allowed to go get more. So on top of charging more for opening the grave because of a holiday. My grandad had to be moved to another funeral home and await burial even longer!! He was not buried until Monday morning. Instead of his original day of Saturday. Thank you all so much for having us wait to lay our loved one to rest. You are a cemetery correct?! Anyone that deals with Oaklawn better bring the Vaseline!

I was told 6-8 weeks for marker to be installed, it’s now week 17 and my husband’s site has absolutely no marker, no grass has been planted- and Covid cannot be blamed this is outdoors. There is no reason for his site to look the way it does except these people do not care. I paid upfront instead of a payment plan they have my money they’ve done nothing since

The grounds seem to be well taken care of and the staff expressed an interest to explain an easy exit.

Maybe it was just a bad day... But the staff member I had the pleasure of dealing with was probably the rudest person I have ever encounter in this industry and I have been walking cemeteries for decades.
