The Family Bakery

I was incredibly disappointed with my order! We had a party scheduled for a Saturday. I called the bakery ahead of time to order 3 dozen cupcakes for a rainbow party for my nieces. When I called originally, the nice lady told me that their head baker had a stroke so they were limited on things they can do. I told her I hated to hear that and I would call another bakery or figure something out otherwise. She told me they could do chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla cupcakes and they wouldn’t be able to use multi colored frosting to get a rainbow effect BUT they could airbrush them using some colors from the rainbow. I was was excited with that idea, so opted to go for 1-1/2 dozen airbrushed and 1-1/2 dozen with plain frosting since I had cake picks that I could use on the others.I told the lady if there was any problem and they couldn’t so them, just to call me ahead of time so I could figure out another plan. No call, so my husband picks them up Saturday morning before the party, as we had scheduled. The cupcakes had hand-drawn rainbows (with frosting) and NOT KIDDING- my two year old niece could have done a better decorating job. I called the bakery and the lady told me that the airbrush was “was spraying everywhere” so they couldn’t do them using that. I told her the bakery is the one who suggested the airbrush AND no one called me to tell me they were going to have someone attempt to draw rainbows that were pathetic and not even close to rainbow colors. NO CALL! While the cupcakes tasted fine, the decorations were HIDEOUS (not kidding). I told the lady I understood their situation with the head baker’s health condition but they did not handle this situation correctly and that I was disappointed and would not be back. She said ok. Just beware- not everyone there who decorates cakes at The Family Bakery should be decorating cakes! Very unprofessional! I can’t get a picture to load or I would include it.
