My son went o visit his father's grave today and could barely find it. The area with the flat headstones was covered with grass and dirt. Isn't someone supposed to be taking care of this area also ?I know perpetual care was paid for. This is so sad !! Don't know who is supposed to be.mowing this area but they are definitely not doing there job!!!

Beautiful cemetery. Many famous headstones, including Mark Twain, are well marked. Worth the stop.

The Woodlawn Cemetery complex is actually two cemeteries.nnThe larger of these is Woodlawn Cemetery, which is the final resting place of author, humorist, philosopher Samuel L. Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, Hal Roach Jr., American film pioneer and producer of the Our Gang series as well as many other films, and of Ernie Davis, first African-American winner of the Heisman Trophy.nnThe second cemetery is Woodlawn National Cemetery, begun during the American Civil War as a burial ground for the nearly 3,000 Confederate prisoners who died at the Elmira Prison Camp. Many were buried by John J. Jones, and escaped slave and sexton of a local church.

CrushUrPride, I'm glad I don't play that Pokemon game. At least Woodlawn loves Ingress, Niantics other game. We still have all our stuff in their and they let us keep it. We're able to play in there 24/7, night or day, and they don't care what we do in there or when we do it or how we do it. Well, just the other night there were some Elmira folks in there all hours of the night Playing. Woodlawn loves Ingress and Elmira loves Woodlawn
