On April 25, 2020, I temporarily rented a storage unit at LifeStorage, 3540 Quakerbridge Rd. Hamilton NJ, after selling my house, which contained all of my family's personal belongings and furniture. In mid September, I began moving our items out of the storage unit to move into our new home. While moving the items, I found four dead mice, mouse droppings, and rice on all of our property and inside boxed items, even though we did not store any food items. Although alot of furniture and items could be cleaned, many could not and had to be thrown away, resulting in approximately a $2,000.00 loss. During the time frame I began moving my items, I also personally observed people sleeping in their cars in the evening everynight when the business's gates are locked for entry after 10pm. I also have personally observed a large pile of trash and old belongings that had been disposed improperly by a tenant on the main driveway of the facility since 09/24/20, that the business left there and refused to clean up. When I addressed these issues to the staff and a manager named Yvonne, they were unwilling to do anything to compensate me and instructed me to file an insurance claim with my homeowners insurance, which does not cover damage by rodents. Yvonne admitted on two phone calls that the property is undergoing new management because it was not being properly taken care of, which she then said probably caused the mice in my unit. Due to Yvonne's statements and the condition of the property which was not properly cared for by management, for over $200.00 a month, a person should be able to trust that their belongings will be ok and that the property would be maintained. The business was unwilling to compensate me in anyway or offer anything. Very poorly run business with terrible customer service.
