Jane Piano Lessons

We tried four other piano teachers with variable degrees of satisfaction before finding Jane, who we have been with for the last two years, and plan to be the last teacher we'll ever need. She is patient, but firm, talented, but understands the perspective of a beginner, classically trained in one of Russia's best schools, but learned in modern teaching techniques. She has always been good with my kids, always keeps her cool, and explains things using words that kids would understand. She goes above and beyond to help her students. I especially enjoy the group music history lessons that she sometimes hold on weekends, where she provides interesting stories about composers and periods of music, and which she does totally out of her own time.

Top-notch! Jane is super talented, but such a natural at teaching as well. She has a gift for making it easy to understand. Jane runs a beautifully balanced piano education program emphasizing technique, theory and musicality at each stage of the student’s development. She's been teaching my daughter for 8 years who scored with the high honer the musical theory and piano practice examinations on all levels. She is a gifted teacher and I recommend her to you unconditionally.

Ms. Jane is a naturally gifted musician and teacher. As a piano player myself, I was quite selective in finding a piano teacher for my children. I probably interviewed and/or did trial lessons for over 15 teachers. Ms Jane was the only person who ‘sang’ the melodic line, emphasized musicality over other things (such as exact notes/rhythm, which would naturally improve over time), and explained things using metaphors so that kids would absorb her teachings (hand should move “like a tiger walking in the jungle,” she gave them squishes as presents and placed them on the piano keys so that kids would know how it feels to press into the keys, she had the kids do finger pushups against the wall to imitate the weight and grace of playing piano). She is firm, thorough, compassionate, and encouraging. She is technically trained but can relate to kids and readily impart her knowledge. She is truly a gem amongst the sea of piano teachers out there.

Jane was my piano teacher for 10 years. She is such a dedicated, professional, patient, inspiring, positive, and kind teacher. She has gotten me to the highest levels of RCM with first class honors and has taught me all the most important and valuable skills.

Jane did a wonderful job with my daughter guiding her through levels 1-9 with RCM.
