Mound City National Cemetery

My dad Ralph Barry Johnson, and one of my favorite uncles, his brother, Nathan Johnson, are resting ever so peacefully here. The living are the ones who need the prayers of hope.

A very important and well-kept Civil War era Military Cemetery that is still interring veterans and their family members to this day. It's out of the way for many people but worth visiting. There was a lot of essential Civil War history that happened in the region if you know where to look for it.

I am Carolyn A Reed Brown and My Great Great Grandfather William Wright was brought wounded down river on a boat to the military hospital located outside of the Cemetery in the village of Mounds. there was a measle outbreak & he died 2-16-1863. The weather was too bad to get his body home so he is buried in the Military Cemetery. We have gone for years and other cousins also go to his grave. It is beautiful & peaceful.

This cemetery holds two people that I will love forever and ever. My Mother & Father.
