Guthrie Piano Studio

We are so happy we found Guthrie Piano Studio. My daughter took lessons from a couple other piano teachers but they didn't seem to fit. She began losing interest in piano. Thank goodness we gave Dylan Guthrie a try. Not only does my daughter love her lessons, she actually enjoys practicing now. Dylan uses updated and creative ways to motivate his students. Thanks, Our home is filled with beautiful music again.

My 12 yr old son started piano lessons in January 2020. He already knew how to play songs on the piano but didn’t know the basics. I found Dylan on Facebook and decided to send him a message. He almost immediately sent me a message back asking for videos of Landon playing. He wanted to know what he liked to play and how he had taught himself. He asked many questions to assure we were all on the same track. Landon was nervous at first. Dylan started him completely at the beginning of all piano lessons. My son Landon has since found more of his love for piano and other instruments. During the pandemic, we had to go virtual. Dylan was welcomed into our home through Zoom. We made sure that we still kept up with our promise to “stick with it”. Dylan makes sure he keeps his students up to date. He’s always up to answering a lot of questions and always makes sure the students are comfortable with what they’re playing. I 100% recommended Dylan.

Dylan is a calm and very patient teacher. He is encouraging and understanding. My son and I have been taking lessons from him for almost 2 years. Dylan is creative in music choices, and his knowledge and passion for music is evident. We are enjoying becoming better pianists, with his teaching skills!

My son and daughter have both been taking lessons from Guthrie Piano Studio for several years now. We were new to Texas, and didn’t know anyone to ask, so I called Austin College and spoke to the music department. Dylan was its first recommendation.nI am so pleased with what Jackson and Rory have learned from Dylan. Both have improved in level of ability and knowledge which would obviously be expected. But they have both become more positive about playing and practicing, which I attribute to Dylan. He is super patient and shares relevant personal experiences with his students, letting them know they aren’t alone in their practicing/ concept struggles. He not only is concerned with just the practice schedule, but takes the time to inquire about and show an interest in other activities in which his students are involved. I have seen a change at how Jackson and Rory view their lessons with Dylan, because he is not just their teacher, but a person they have gotten to know and with whom they feel more comfortable. Dylan makes sure they know of his expectations for practicing, but is able to do it so that he is not overly stern or pushy, making them look more forward to their lessons.nWith all the craziness of our world right now, Dylan has made sure to stay in great communication with his students and parents, and has done all he can to ensure quality lessons continue through FaceTime, Zoom, etc. In addition, he has continued to be incredibly flexible when scheduling issues arise, allowing students to see how important lesson time is, which in turn helps parents with this issue.nI very much recommend Dylan Guthrie at Guthrie Piano Studio.

“I’ve been playing piano with Mr. Dylan as my teacher for two years now. I enjoy having the skill to sit down and play songs; however, I could not play on the level I am now without Mr. Dylan’s help. He has taught me new exercises and furthered my understanding of the piano itself using various methods and theory work.
