The Mercantile is my favorite shop! The inventory is outstanding and always changing. Quality merchandise with a super cool vintage boho vibe. The staff and vendors are so nice, friendly and offer great ideas for decor. Love this place!!

LOVE this store----the owner (Trish) and the merchandise! During covid, I texted her back and forth numerous times (she was very responsive and accommodating) about her inventory and setting up an appt to come in. It was a great experience! (I should've written a review then!) My daughter and I found a lot of great stuff at great prices and Trish was great to work with--very nice, helpful and full of information about inventory to come, vendors, events, etc! She even helped us load my car.nThen, this past weekend, we went back again and had another great (repeat) experience of the first time! This time, she had a lot more inventory, shared background stories about certain items we were interested in, and is going to get back to me about some other items I'm interested in, if she can get them. I love to shop local as much as possible, and shop West Bottoms, etc---but this store (and the owner) is one of my FAVORITES! Positive vibes, a very positive atmosphere and great inventory! Great stuff and great CRM! So, this time, I'm taking the time to write a well-deserved review!

Hate giving a local business a bad review since it’s notnin my nature but me and my wife had such a bad experience here I needed to elaborate on what happened. She had bought 2 items from here before with no issues and the employee checking everyone out couldn’t be nicer but this trip was a nightmare to be beheld.nnMy wife found a nice vintage chair for our sun room and we went to pick it up and all was well with the transaction but right as we brought it home and tried sitting it, we noticed a yellow dust coming up whenever you sat on it. We turned the chair over and noticed anytime you put pressure on the underside more yellow dust would come up. We figured this was just saw dust but a quick Google search came up with the conclusion that this was something called Powderpost beetles. These can be the equivalent to terminates on your furniture and when we contacted an exterminator we they also concluded this is what it was. We also noticed what look like termites marks on the leg of the chair. So we decided to pack it up and return it to the store. Well, that’s where the “fun” began.nnWe showed up around 5:25 and even though their website and what is literally posted outside their door showed that they closed at 8 on Thursdays, the doors were locked. We were greeted at the door by the owner and we tried to explain to her in a calm and upbeat demeanor what we were dealing with and how we wanted a return but this is where things turned hostile. She kept trying to maintain that her store is a vintage store and there are no returns even though that was not listed on the receipt nor we were told that in the store. When we explained the issue with the Powderpost beetles and not wanting an infestation in our house she said it was just because the chair was old and it was sitting in their basement. When we told her that we consulted an exterminator she doubted us and even told us the termite/bug marks on the leg were dog bites even though they were only one side. We tried to even stay gracious at this moment and not make things more aggressive but she kept repeating things like “no refund” in the most negative manner. Eventually she just gave up and told us “this is the only time I’m doing this” in a very rude way and took my wife in the store and gave us the refund finally.nnNow, I’m no business owner of my own and can understand the challenges but in no way do I think you should treat your customers in this manner and if refunds are not your policy you should explain that in a more positive way and don’t be defensive. She never even apologized for some these defects of the chair and even blocked my wife on Facebook from even being able to leave a review. I hope for their sake they learn from this and treat their customers how they want to be treated.

I love this retail space; it's got a little bit of everything from artwork to clothing to home decor. I picked up some cool, vintage cocktail glasses on my last trip there. You can shop their Facebook on line as well. Very creative and a nice add to Gladstone!

Really cool place! Unique items to choose from. Bought a mirror, lamp, and statue all for $90. You won’t be disappointed.
