This was my very first time buying an instrument at all, and I had heard buying a violin can be finicky. Mr. Howery is an absolute angel and helped me figure out finances, the instrument that was best for me, finding affordable teachers, etc. And the violin was fantastic quality!nMuch love from me and George.

I am very pleased with the work Will did on one of my violins. Before I took it to him, it was a bit harsh sounding and not very loud. It now has a more pleasing tone and is much louder. Will has a good working knowledge of the physics involved in producing a good sound from a violin. In addition to doing excellent repair work, he has some very good sounding violins that he has made.

My husband and I feel fortunate to have found Howery Violins. Mr. Howery, himself an accomplished violinist, is not only a talented Luthier, he is very knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to work with. He has gone out of his way to help us in our endeavor to repair and care for a very old violin that has been in the family for over 85 years. We highly recommend Howery Violins.

I have tried nearly all of the violins that Mr. Howery has produced and I was very impressed with the quality. The instruments tend to have a deep sound with powerful projection. The quality of the sound is well balanced throughout the high-mid-low ranges of the instruments and Mr. Howery's details regarding the setup is optimal for playability. I would recommend trying them out when you are looking for advanced to professional level violins.

Cello repair: Will has done several repairs on my cello; all with excellent outcomes. He has re-haired both my bows, and repaired a posterior crack at the neck joint where it meets the scroll. Most recently a crack appeared over the sound post under the bridge which required he remove the entire front of the body, applied a sound post patch and replaced damage linings. After the body was re-assembled he repaired the string guides at the scroll and bridge which shortened the height of the strings off the fingerboard, which has made left hand work simpler. He also repaired a number of 'dings' on the anterior seams with French polish and a varnish touch up. The instrument is gorgeous, mellow cello sound, and we now ready for a long life together.... Will does beautiful, meticulous work.
