Eau Claire Custom Stone

I worked with Custom Stone to source soapstone. When I first spoke to Luke, I explained this was my first time purchasing stone and I needed some hand holding. He recommended I source material from Stone Holding and showed me different pictures of soapstones. I picked a stone and signed a contract with him. I purchased what I believed to be soapstone. It was not. I later found out Marine Black Stone is slate often misrepresented as soapstone. My counters have been finished and treated as soapstone (because that was the product I believed I was buying) and now are a mess of scratches that don’t buff out or disappear with a fresh waxing (as they would with soapstone) and stains (which also doesn’t occur with soapstone) when I asked Luke to help me make good on this - he refused saying I had approved the stone (I guess I should have had another stone expert there to check mineral content) and it had been too long (late spring of 2018 was the install) for him to do anything but treat it as a new bid. I asked if there was ANYTHING he could do and he refused. His install work was excellent, but if you’re looking for someone to stand behind the product he’s pushing and/or help you when you run into problems, I can’t recommend him. I’m now looking to install (actual) soapstone countertops in my kitchen two years after this mistake. It’s an expensive lesson.

Luke and Tony did excellent work. They showed up when they said they would. They worked with us on our budget and timeline. Price was very reasonable. Excellent service and responsive to our questions and concerns. Highly recommend.
