Bought a tenor uke here and had a bass guitar restrung. Had a pleasant experience with both interactions. The staff seemed pretty knowledgeable, at least in comparison to a near by larger chain store. Prices seemed competitive and selection was decent.nnUpdate: The Kala ukulele I bought ended up having some issues. Heid Music was amazing in the way they handled the situation.

This place is huge but also warm and inviting. I have been on the hunt for a new keyboard and I went to another local music store in town that was recommended to me by a colleague but had a terrible experience. I did a google search for music stores in Madison and I am so happy I found Heid Music! I was greeted when I walked in and the beautiful grand pianos caught my eye immediately (I cannot wait until I have the space/money for one of my own). A friendly guy with a dark beard saw me looking at the pianos and helped me pick out a great, inexpensive, Yamaha keyboard. I have been loving my piano!
