Very expensive compared to other cemeteries, but this is where my dad wanted to be buried. The staff was very nice to work with. My dad had purchased his plot here years before, and I’m so glad he did. A staff member I was working with didn’t realize that the plot had been purchased already, so he started to explain to me that they needed to be paid before they could proceed with the burial- a reasonable request. Once he realized the plot was paid for, he seemed a bit relieved, since I’m sure his job entails working with family members to try to get funds to hold a burial- not exactly an inexpensive thing. So if you plan to have a burial plot, I would do your loved ones a huge favor and purchase it in advance and save them a lot of trouble. The grounds are nice, and they have been quick to fix any issues I contact them with. I was setting flowers on dad’s grave, and I noticed a chunk taken out of his granite that holds the headstone. It was clearly hit by a lawnmower. I contacted them to let them know about it, and to get me an estimate to have it repaired. I never heard back, and sort of forgot about it until I went to put flowers out again. Imagine my surprise and delight to see the granite fixed!! The only complaint I have is they are very strict with some people about the gravesite decor. I had a very small 6 inch wreath to put at my dad’s gravesite. As I was sticking it in the ground, a worker came up and yelled at me that they don’t allow any decor that you stake into the ground, and that he was going to throw it out after I left if I didn’t find another place for it. So I just stuck the wreath in with the flowers in the built in vase. He was really rude about it, but I understand why they have rules in place. But, that being said, they should be the same rules for everyone. As this man was yelling at me, he walked past a grave that had many, many large metal decorations on stakes that were in the ground- which I thought looked just fine. So not sure why he had such an issue with my tasteful little wreath. They also have a very nice annual memorial service for all veterans that have passed that year, as well as many other activities and services for the family such as making and lighting paper lanterns, as well as grief seminars. They did a movie at the cemetery this year- I believe it was The Addams Family- which my family thought was a bit tacky and not exactly the best venue for movies, so we didn’t attend. That being said, my dad chose this as his final resting place himself. Had I been given the choice, I’m not sure I would have picked this cemetery, but I’m glad he arranged it before he passed, because it’s clear I would not have picked what he wanted.
