Umpleby's Bakery Cafe

Delicious savory pies and great service. Love their tea lattes as well. Pastries can be really good.nnThe only issue here is consistency. Sometimes I'll get the same thing multiple days in a row and it tastes different.nnI really love this place so much. The food is wholesome and tasty. And they have sandwiches named after characters from The Fountainhead and other pieces of great literature :)

The Sherlock holme sandwich. Omg. The sandwich hits, all the flavors. But the palette loves all the texture the sandwich has. I requested crispy bacon. And the avocado works great with it. .nThe atmosphere is warm and enjoyable. We also walked out with the apple crumble pie...nOver priced : NO.nwill I return : YESnIt's hard finding great food.

Really enjoyed the scone, reminded me of the best of London. Cappuccino had a healthy dose of steamed milk.

I always overlooked Umpleby's bc I thought they were overpriced. I lived in Australia where savory pies are usually $3-4 and almost always delicious. Umpleby's are $5-6 and I wasn't super impressed by them, but I really appreciate that they stayed open during the Wuhan pandemic. And their pastries and iced lattes are excellent. Sandwiches are quite reasonably priced by Hanover standards.
