I love visiting old cemeteries across New England and I made a special trip up to VT to see the Rockingham Meeting-House Cemetery because I read that the local stone carvers had carved some very unique stones. I was not disappointed. This cemetery sits in a beautiful setting behind an old church/meeting house and as you walk around you will find many beautifully carved early grave stones. The cemetery is exceptionally well maintained and the grave stones are in very good condition. If you enjoy primitive style stone carvings this is one of the best cemeteries in New England to visit.
I love exploring old cemeteries and this one is older than the U.S. Interesting to see how headstone styles and materials changed over the years. Guide Rosemary gave an interesting and informative tour of the meeting house - I learned a lot about the building, the local area and Vermont.
