The Oak Hill Cemetery

Beautiful and serene. Of all the nice places, this was the only one good enough for my dear mother. Peaceful, cool breeze, and quietly away from major highways (keeps the noise down). Check out Dial Murray Funeral home for information on purchasing lots at $1000 each, perceptual graveyard.

Oak Hill Cemetery is a historic cemetery on a hill along Rock Creek Park in Georgetown in NW DC. The cemetery itself is stunning. On roving green hills, the scenery with the gravestones is stunning. Many of the gravestones are monuments and striking.nnThere are a few larger burial areas on the premise as well as benches to sit and enjoy the scenery. There's a little garden as well as benches under a stone bridge. There's also a beautiful chapel designed by renowned James Renwick.nnThere are more strict rules at the cemetery. You can't take professional photos nor bring in pets, bikes, etc.nnThere are many famous DC icons buried here including Katharine Graham, the former publisher of The Washington Post.

Beautiful cemetery

Beautiful, if not oddly asymmetrically so. Some parts are gorgeously landscaped, and others have the timeworn charm of an older cemetery. It's easy to get turned around if you go off on the less kept side paths (which is necessary to see the full width of this place).
