Traveling through Arkansas, I’m so happy we stopped! This is our History, whether some like it or not!

A solemn, quiet place. It is a cemetery for confederates killed at the Battle of Pea Ridge. There are 100's of graves in its 3.5 acres, surrounded by a stone wall built in 1885. There is a rotunda for shelter. This place is dear to my wife and I, as we gave our marriage vows in the rotunda (I'm not sure how the rebel ghosts appreciated a Yankee getting wed on their sacred grounds; but my wife is a Texan). An interesting aside is that my great grandfather fought at Pea Ridge as a member of the 3rd Illinois Cavalry. This is a nice place to spend some quiet time. Even as a hard core Yankee, I can appreciate the bravery and the valor of the rebs who lie in peaceful repose there. Just a couple of blocks from downtown Fayetteville

Civil War cemetery of Confederate soldiers from the battles of Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, and Fayetteville. Really interesting to come here and see if you are a history buff or into Civil War history. Needs a little more upkeep and better parking location (just grass parking). I recommend going to the Pea Ridge & Prairie Grove battlefields (national parks), the headquarters house / Washington county historical society (Fayetteville), and Fayetteville National Cemetery (Union soldiers) along with this location to get a full Civil War tour of NWA.

All of these memorials to soldiers are very inspirational. Community takes great care of this facility.
