Polk Mountain Cemetery

I was able to take my dad there several years ago from Kansas. We went to visit the grave site of his grandfather who died of pneumonia after walking down into town and back to pay taxes one year. There are some of his sibblings that died at birth or very early into life there along with other family members too.nIt was his childhood home that he had last visited more than 20 years before. At that time he took the grave markers that he had made and are there now to replace the old kettles and pans that were there before as the only markers of our ancestors for many years.nMy dad passed away a few years ago. But the memory of that trip and the stories of his childhood that he told as we were there is something that I will treasure forever.
