Convoy Commune

We were up in Newcastle, specially Merewether for the weekend to check out the WSL surf comp. We were recommended to try out Convoy Commune for a coffee and took a short walk from our hotel and found this not far from the beach.nnIn the beachside suburb, the decor fits perfectly with its beachy vibes and byron bay esque aesthetic. With its bright interior, natural timber finishes, rattan pendant lights and rattan mirror. I loved the look and was surprised to hear that the cafe is currently undergoing renovations as it looked pretty schmick already. Will be interesting to see what they do design wise.nnThe cafe also had a retail space stocking the Huskee Cup, Good X Karma products as well as MAYDE tea and True Protein powders. You can grab any of this to go for yourselves or a gift.nnWe were there for a coffee, which they make with Convoy Commune’s own signature blend using a blend of specialty beans from Brazil, Costa Rica and Ethiopia. An interesting flavour of malt and chocolate. We enjoyed the coffee.nnWe didn’t have food on our visit but they have a range of fresh and healthy dishes including açai bowls, sandwiches, bacon and egg rolls, a rotating salad choice from the window and some mighty fine sounding smoothies.nnThe cafe was extraordinarily busy given the surf event in addition to the neighbourhood locals and runners, but we appreciated being informed of wait time and they did super well in getting things out promptly.nnWe look forward to seeing their renovations and visiting next time we’re in the area.

These guys are great, fantastic coffee. You could mistake the place for a model / influencer shoot. Every girl with her leopard print active wear, spends hours sipping on an almond latte after a long morning in front of the mirror.

Convoy is my new local spot! I'm a judge-y coffee drinker and this is hands down some of the best. An awesome, chilled out atmosphere, with friendly people. Great spot to take my laptop, have a meal, and get some work done... Exactly what the area was lacking!
