Well, some tourist added his three grosze, that is, peta and juice carton. The city is very nice and calm. On Monday, when I was there, traffic on the street is light, maybe because it was raining? Very nice people.

There are several statues of this kind in Besançon and this one is quite pretty.

Jean-Louis Fousseret, the mayor of Besançon, who was looking for a sculpture to commemorate the bicentenary of the Victor Hugo revolution, on the advice of Catherine Tasca, then Minister of Culture, contacted Ousmane Sow. The latter replied that Victor Hugo had also been a senator, and that he had promised the sculpture to the President of the Senate. But Besançon is the birthplace of the writer, his statue must be installed on the human rights plaza, so the sculptor makes a bronze replica for Besançon. 2.30 m high and weighing 370 kg, the statue of a Victor Hugo in ragged clothes, who cares about the passing of time, one hand in his pocket, the other holding a pocket watch that he is looking at, is therefore opposite the town hall.
