Purchased a Red 12 plate Ford Focus. Noticed on driving away car had a knocking noise coming from engine. Car had just been MOT'd but was missing an indicator cover on drivers side mirror plus the horn didn't work both MOT failures but not on MOt. I drove the car straight back and was told it's only a heat shield and to keep driving it it will be ok. I explained that the horn wasnt working and that my kids would be in the car. I was then told no problem use the car and bring it back next weekend and our mechanic would sort the issues. I drove the car home but the noise was getting louder and louder. I was then told the engine was knocking as either the big end bearings or main bearings had failed and would need replacing. The following weekend ( earliest I could get back ) I returned the car back to Masons after having it for 7 days ( parked up on the road ).I had already priced up a replacement engine and was told by staff at Masons that they would get a replacement engine for my car. I left the car with them as was informed an engine had been ordered and I would be able to collect it the following weekend and that all the issues with the car ( horn not working, missing indicator lens and damaged rear Parcel shelf ) would be rectified. After many calls to find out how the car was doing. I was then told they could not get an engine. I was offered £1500 to take car as was and to get my own engine. I had already told them this was not acceptable as an engine was at least £1850. I had already filled the car up with fuel on day of purchase and had taxed and bought a yearly permit for the car. I was at least £150 out of pocket. I eventually got my money back on the purchase price of the car but nothing about my additional outlay. This car is still up for sale at a lower price. My advise would be steer well clear and avoid like the plague. Promises everything but deliveries nothing. Had to chase all the time as never phones you.

Bought Range Rover Sport earlier this year. Couple of little niggles with car but good customer service as they are happy for car to go back to them and they will repair. Always answer the phone and friendly service.

Bought a car from Alan last month. He was extremely helpful and friendly and he gave me a good deal on the car that I was really interested in. After buying the car and driving 2 hours home on Saturday evening, the car broke down due to a manufacturers problem (automatic gearbox failure). Alan was again very helpful and arranged to have a recovery truck and mechanic look at the car from 70 miles away. He also kept in touch with me throughout the week and organised more cars for me to look at. Had also offered me a full refund straight away. Ended up getting a new car from Alan and extremely happy with it. Very trustworthy guy, stands over his warranties and cannot wait to do business with him again.

Bought my sons first car from here a few months ago and he has been extremely happy with it ever since. Alan was super friendly and honest, and helped me decide what car would be best for my son as I have little knowledge in the area. Would definitely recommend!

We bought a VW Tiguan 1.4 TSI at Masons last week Monday. The car was according to Autotrader over priced with £500. My wife like the car so they told us we can test drive it behind their dealership is a learners course. I did not drive the car myself as this was her car I wanter her to drive it. There were loads of learner drivers and she could not even pass second gear. How can you test drive a car like this? Never the less she was happy as this was for her even though I did noy agree I bought it for her under the condition they have to book it in for a new MOT as the current one was only valid untill next year Feb and for my peace of mind I wanted a new one. They agreed we can take the car home and just phone them back to book for the new MOT. When she got hom she said that is seems like thirs gear is slipping but she would like me to drive it and see for myself. That Thursday only she drove the car again to Chelmsford and a warning light came on and she phone Masons and they tomd her just to bring the car back for them to look at it. She then just googled on VW website to see what this specific light means and it was just the tyre pressure light which was no major problem so for us not to waste their time we phoned Masons back to tell them. This past weekend I drove the car myself and then found major problems on the car. Third gear is slipping indeed back into first gear. The power steering pump is making a noice. And the worst is the loads of blue smoke coming from the excaust. It smells extremely strong. We took a video of this. I told her this car is a lemon we have to take it back for our moneh back. She agreed on this. Sunday we phoned Masons and they told us to bring the car back. We drove to them and said we are not happy with this car. The salesman told us no problem they want us to be happy. We can look for either another car, or they will fully refund our money back. My wife then could not find a car she liked. So I told Allen we still want to so bussiness with them and we need a second car so if he can look for either a BMW estate or a Merc estate which was my choice for her from the beginning. I would even pay extra. He agreed. We went home and later my wife then told me she does not want a estate and she would rather then look for s car herself as she is very spesific with what she wants. They gave us the peace of mind that a full refund is no problem. She emailed them and told them she would like them to refund us. They did not reply so she phone them this past Monday. Allan was extremely ruide to her telling her no she wont get the money back they will fix it and it just need a good service and there is nothing wrong with the gears and the power steering. And we can put all in writing! She then phone me very upset. I phone Allen myself and have never came accross people like this! Unprofessional is not the word! He refuses to refund us and tells us his college should not have told us we can get our money back he only works for him! If he knew you dont give money back on faulty cars Allan why would he say this to us! I have suspision there are major faults on this car and I told him very well fix it then but it is my right that you fix it at a registered VW Dealership! He now ignores us! I also found a review that another customer said that ALAN told him he will get a full refund! Allan thinks the lawn is fully on his side and he is untouchable and like he says he is 20 years in this trade! Well Allan we will see about this if the Law will be on your side with all our evidence we have!
