In the Santhalpargana region of Jharkhand, the Hijle fair, which displayed the color of the people of the tribal community, was started in 1890 by the then British Deputy Commissioner of Dumka, R. Castires.nnThere was a Santhal rebellion against the British rule in the year 1855, which was suppressed by the British administration. With this, this fair was started to reduce the distance created between the administration and tribal society.nnSince then, this fair is being held at this place every year. The special thing of this fair is that till independence, this fair was considered an important opportunity to make rules and plans for the development of Santhalpargana.

One of the finest Mela ever . The place is itself a historical one. The size of the Mela is huge. Trust me you can find everything here to buy for household things, to eat snacks , some rides, something to watch like play etc. People do comes from different part of India to be part of this Mela. Some come with friends to have fun and enjoy. The best thing about this Mela is that is organized at the time when winter is at the verge of departure. So during day time it is a bit hot but not that much( you have to pun on winter clothes) but at night temperature falls a bit ( it is not like snowy but cool breeze). come and enjoy have a part of historical events.
