Goldcar

Couldn’t get the car because the booking was made with a shortened version of my first name. Than the person tried to be “nice” and give me a new booking discounted in cash. Pretty sure he was going to pocket that money to release my booking. Never going back!

Bad service and cheating the client. The company takes advantage of clients who are not native Italian/English speakers and adds unnecessary expensive insurances into the bill. Look carefully into the bill before you pay, because you might see some items in it you did not intend to pay for. Apart from that, the service applies "late return" policy that they do not inform the clients about. If you return the car a little later, be prepared to be charged extra EUR 40 (in some cases plus 1 day rent fee). First and last car rental experience with this company, unfortunately.

Avoid at all costs. They are scam artists. My wife hired a car and went to pick up. Added on their fully comprehensive insurance policy. Was told when looking at the car, not to take pictures of anything else other than the windscreens and wheels. Was forced to sign many forms that were either blank or in Italian with no English translation. Returned car and were charged a week later with "damage to lock". Don't rent your car from here, go to AVIS or Budget the next desk over, spend a little bit more money to get an overall better deal.

Our flight time was moved 5hrs early. We went to the gold car desk at Milan Malpensa airport to explain. The guy said he had the car ready, but we couldn’t have it early unless we bought Gold Car’s excess cover, which costs £200. We explained we already had excess cover (actually our cover is £2 a day and covers more than Gold Car’s one does!). But he refused to let us have the car, so we’re stuck in the airport. Terrible service. Would not recommend.

Dishonest and unethical. We hired a car from Milan from goldcar, we paid 2 deposits of 100 euro (200 in total) which we did not receive back upon returning the car in good condition with a full tank. I called their "helpline" on the 6th of August to resolve this, they recommend I email their help enter (email screenshots attached). Further more we couldn't figure out how to pay tolls on some of the roads, so goldcar charged a further 35 euro to pass on our details to the road authority... Not even resolve to problem but just change a management fee because they can. Very disappointed in this type of behaviour from a company. Would strongly advise to seek a more reputable one EVEN IF goldcar is priced cheaper on a booking website, they'll get their profit margins in the end....
