Sicily by Car

We rented a car in August. They were accomodating to our choices and very helpful and fast. No surprises, and usually one of better prices compared to the rest of Malpensa choice.

Rented a car for 14days. Person behind the counter gave us a bigger car for same price since she believed we needed it due to additional luggage. No problems with returning the car either. I would use this company again on my next trip to Italy 😊.

Been renting cars for years in all kinds of countries but normally they notify you from advance if you need to buy any additional toll. Rented a car from Milan Airport and guess what, we needed to buy an additional ticket to go inside the Milan city which we didn't know and now charged 70€ from Police and another 61€ from Sicily by Car as a handling fee even if this is written somewhere in the contract, they use this heavily for making money and the stated security reasons are very weak imo. Classifies as a scam and will not rent there again. On the other car rental websites and over the counter while handing you over the keys, they normally mention if you need to buy any additional toll. Being a foreign tourist in Italy how will someone know the instruction in italian to buy another ticket for the city center if not explained to him?

They wanted a 650EURO deposit all of a sudden on credit card but the booking did not specify such a high one in T&C. My credit card declined the transaction as with the international usage fees of £80 and the rental for 3 days of 97Euro on top of the deposit was above my remaining limit. They kept telling me that the deposit will just be “blocked on my card” but when I called my bank they just said it was a normal transaction which would incur a conversion fee. I asked to pay for the rental on credit card and deposit on debit card but was repeatedly refused. In the end they said the only way was to buy the extra insurance for 90Euros, so doubling my rental cost just for 3 days on top of a “reduced” deposit of 350Euros. All of the damage on the car was not recorded on the sheet as there was bumps and scratches everywhere. Be careful everyone! Although they seem the cheapest at first they want to get more money from you in all the little dishonest ways they can. Its like the staff work on commission on how they can get extra money from you. I will never rent with them again and suggest you go for a bigger more honest car rental too!
