I always feel a lot of peaceful in every temple I visit in Japan. This temple's architecture is amazing. Starting to walk from the leftside you can gazed the graves. And check the writing on them is quite special and not really common according to my Japanese friend.
The entry around 400¥ but is worth it!!!
If you're around this area you should visit the temple and pray a little bit.
Amazing architectural style that has withstood centuries of harsh weather.
It is a famous temple of the Nichiren sect that boasts the Noto's temple.
First of all, useful information.
one. If you search for a route from Kanazawa / Hakui to Myojoji on Google Maps, you will see a route that goes north on National Highway No. 249 and turns left around the Myojojiguchi bus stop. On the other hand, if you follow the signboard of Myojoji, you will turn left about 3 km before the Myojojiguchi bus stop and go north on the road along the mountain. The shortest route is as shown on Google Maps, but if you follow the road indicated by the signboard, you can see the elegant appearance of the five-storied pagoda from the other side of the mountain. If you are driving or biking, we recommend that you follow the signs.
two. The first layer of the five-storied pagoda will be opened during the five-storied pagoda festival after Golden Week. There seems to be a special visit for the tour, but it seems that only the five-storied pagoda festival is open to the public.
three. At the back of the precincts, the area around Jorokudo is a graveyard. There are places where water collects here and there, so there are quite a few mosquitoes even after the rain continues in the summer. Killing in the temple area is difficult, so it is recommended to take measures against insects in advance.
Well the main subject.
The founder of Myojoji Temple was a statue of Nichizo, who made great achievements in the missionary work in Kyoto, and the cathedral that can be seen today was maintained with the support of the Kaga Maeda clan during the Edo period. There is a five-storied pagoda at the back of the Omotesando from the main gate to the Niomon gate, and the main hall is on the right after passing through the Niomon gate. Sanko-do and Soushi-do are located on the left and right of the main hall. The main temples, excluding the five-storied pagoda and the thirty-storied shrine, are built on the left and right sides of the approach from the main gate to the five-storied pagoda, facing the approach. It is a unique arrangement that is rarely seen elsewhere. Dou on the right side of the precincts is connected by a corridor. On rainy days, it may be easier to put your shoes in the shopping bag of the combi and worship through the corridor. It is said that the arrangement of the cathedral has not changed significantly from the Edo period after the revival to the present.
Many of the temples are made of bare wood, and although they lack glitz, the delicate wooden structure is wonderful. Even in Kyoto and Nara, there are only a few temples with such a tower. The main hall and ten other buildings are designated as national important cultural properties, but it is strange that the five-storied pagoda is not designated as a national treasure (as of 2018). It is wonderful that you can enjoy the details depending on the proximity, or you can enjoy the graceful contours from the distance. The temple staff are also polite, and you can see it from 8 am, so it's easy to incorporate it into your itinerary.
While expecting to be designated as a national treasure in the not too distant future, there are five evaluations.
Holy Land Tour 🙏
