Castillos del Mar

If you are looking to stay here, don’t. Find somewhere else to stay. My family and I used to love coming here. We wanted to go away for the weekend with the kids. Mainly because since March, I have not been anywhere with them. Yes, we know there’s a pandemic still and although glad they were opened this weekend, we were sorry we stayed here. Besides that the rooms smelled pretty gnarly (like sewer), the hotel had a wedding (which we were told was only approved for 50 people then it was upped to 100 guests!) and another function. Which it looked like more than 100 guests. It is now overpriced, we used to pay $60-$70 a night and it’s now double that. The food at the connecting restaurant was little to be desired. Both functions obstructed your beach view from your hotel room to the beach. We stayed on the first floor. Hardly anyone was wearing masks and there were a lot of people. There was also major confusion from the hotel and from the recent added bar and restaurant about the times the beach was open. When we inquired, we got very different schedules. We were told the beach “to the left” was opened from 6-10am and opened all day Saturday “both sides”. Then we were also told it was opened only in the afternoon from 5-7pm. So we planned accordingly to take my 2 kids. Every time and I mean every time we went down to the beach at the specified time, we got stopped by someone who would say the beach was closed. Which was interesting because we saw people at the beach. I wish the restaurant and the hotel communicated to each other and told the guests exactly what was going on. I would have never stayed here if I knew the hotel had functions this weekend. Good luck to you guys!

I've been visiting Castillo del Mar for more than a year now. I love going to the bar for margaritas or hanging out out at the private beach Sunil. The restaurant has great food and great for weddings and parties.

I ordered double queen beds online. I was expecting something real nice when I arrived to this place. When I checked in the room was not ready by 3pm and later on they gave me an okay room that looked like an old apartment. The private beach and surrounding area is actually very nice it's just the hotel that's ghetto and is in need of an upgrade. If you want the room with a jacuzzi you need to order the Master suite (that's what the staff told me). Apparently there is a nicer area. Included breakfast: bowl of fruit, slices of bread and box juice or coffee.

Hard beds!!! Only, nice views. Rooms are outdated online pictures are well edited. Facilities are old second floor squeaks and you can hear everything down stairs. Restaurant is over priced. My family asked for an upgrade, went to see the room but it was equivalent to their cheapest room.

It's a bit shabby, run-down. The restaurant was open but no one was dining, only beer drinking in groups.
