Alfredo's cooking class was the best part of my vacation. I love cooking and he gave us so much interesting information about authentic Oaxacan cooking. This is a great group activity and Alfredo and his wife are very welcoming. The food we cooked (we made Mole) was amazing and he provided the recipes so you could make it at home as well. They really went above and beyond and made it a special experience as we had a birthday in the group. Everyone felt they contributed to the meal and had a really great morning.

An Authentic Experience Alfredo's cooking class is like no other that I've been to. We arrived to La Bocana in Alfredo's signature tourquoise blue van that looks straight out of scooby doo! In an open air kitchen, this class leaves the stale & strict instructionary style behind; instead we all gathered around like old friends over the holidays and learned to cook like real Oaxacans. Alfredo is an amazing chef and teacher who is passionate about not only food but your entire experience. I would highly recommend this class for groups or singles!

I recently attended Alfredo's tour of Pochutla Market and it was such a magnificent experience. He was extremely informative, personable, and professional while simultaneaously immersing you in the Oaxacan culture. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody that is either visiting or lives in/near Huatulco as it is truly an invaluable experience you cannot find anywhere else.

Alfredo is an excellent teacher, tour guide and host. He was born in the area and grew up there. His mother owned a restaurant, as does Alfredo. He is friendly and speaks excellent English, from having lived in the Seattle area. We did the seafood class and made avocados, stuffed with grilled shrimp. Alfredo taught us how to properly make fresh corn tortillas for tostadas and tacos. The tostadas were covered with mahi ceviche and the tacos filled with rice and grilled Spanish mackerel. All this prepared by my wife and myself under Alfredo’s skilled directions while enjoying some cold cervezas. The margaritas and mezcal with & after dinner was equally enjoyable.
