Macuiltépec

Fantastic.

From what I read it is a good place for ecotourism, hiking and physical preparation. I was just passing through. But very nice, lots of flowers and the best kiosk.

Regardless of the reason why you visit Xalapa, the Cerro de Macuiltépec is an option to walk or exercise, there are several routes and ways to reach its top and crater, you can visit with family, company or alone, the cooperation of access to the different areas of interest is symbolic and does not exceed the 50 MXN in total per person. This "hill" is the remains of an extinct and small monogenetic volcano (which only erupted during its active life) and its age is estimated at approximately 30 thousand years. It is the highest elevation in the City of Xalapa and from its top you can practically appreciate the 4 cardinal points. Its viewpoint is located at 1500 MSNM, and the pyramid-shaped Mausoleum 1600 MSNM, if the day and good weather allow it, you can see towards the peak of Orizaba and how the elevation descends towards the Port of Veracuz.

The park is in good condition, the hike is not so heavy if you walk. The viewpoint has a very good view of Xalapa. The crater is very cool.

An impressive and beautiful reserve, you could walk for hours, there are palapas to eat, a viewpoint, you can go for a run (if you are in good physical condition, since it is uphill). There are great animal species, I had to see hawks and eagles, snakes and some very beautiful spiders. 100% recommended.
