Amazing resort! Been here 3 times, never had a bad time. Clean rooms, great beach, pool and lazy river. Food taste great. I’d recommend staying here.
Very nice. There are fewer restaurants on site than Vidanta Cancun, but the local restaurants are more accessible. Seems less crowded than Cancun too.
Called in advance to our trip. We coordinated a shuttle from the airport to the hotel which the hotel offers. No one ever showed up for the pick up... so we took a taxi to the resort. Prior to arrival, I called and was told getting an ocean front room wouldnt be an issue because capacity was no where near full. At arrival, things changed and we got pushed off to a street view. Very disappointing especially when we spoke with some families who arrived after us and got the same rooms we were promised. It's clear capacity is no where near half full, you can arrive at the pool at noon and there are plenty of chairs to be found wide open. LAZY RIVER WAS BONE DRY. Finally, they're starting to get water in it these past 2 days. We find we're never updated about property issues or improvements The mayan palace pool has a new building going up next to it, all you can hear is jack hammering so we stayed at the grand mayan pool. Furthermore when booking golf at the concierge we were pushed to book a timeshare meeting in order to book golf. They would not take no for an answer. We had to go out of our way to the golf course to book our golf. Not a bad thing, but ridiculous how ignorant the concierge was. We have been owners for more than 10 years and this may be a breaking point. The conceriges are ignorant, we have been pushed off away from an ocean view. To enter the gym it costs money too. Seems like if there's a way to nickle and dime you they will. We honestly question the value of what we bought if were not getting anything special, you're better off just paying for your vacation then purchasing anything.
Before I get the standard response. Also know I have tried emailing the email listed in the comments of other reviews only to see it's been turned off and I get a failed to be delivered message.
The majority of the complex had a smell of mildew at the Grand Mayan. After the first night there everyone woke up with a headache, so they changed my room. The next one had an overwhelming smell of mildew too. So they moved us again. After the third move we were tired of being moved. So, I called the front desk and a guy came upstairs and removed a bucket of sitting water that was in the ceiling. I’m assuming it was there to collect the condensation from the A/C unit. He also poured some water absorbent beads in a strainer and placed that in the celling. He then spray some stuff in the vents and throughout the room. This is clearly a known issue if he had all of these quick fix remedies on hand. The next day we went to the pool and when we came back the housekeeper turned on the air and closed the patio doors. I previously opened them to allow the place to air out and turned off the A /C to prevent the reintroduction of the mildew smell in the room. Once again I called the front desk and the guy came and sprayed again. I noticed black mold around the threshold of the door that leads from the bathroom to the bedroom. Also, there was clearly an attempt to paint over the mold on the celling of the shower. I have pictures if you’d care to see them.
I fell in love with Vidanta resorts when I visited Cancun in 2017 and now I've experienced Acapulco in February 2020 (for my birthday). The service is bar none, the grounds close to immaculate and the serene feeling you receive from just being in this tropical paradise is incredible. I've gone alone both times and each vacation I usually have envious friends for good reason! This resort chain is actually the best I've ever stayed in in terms of luxury, ambiance and service. This wonderful resort is right on the beach which offers a spectacular view whether you're on the ground level or up on the 10th floor as I am. There's a lazy river, numerous pools and restaurants plus bars, a game room, internet lounge, live music and acrobatic shows, boutique, golf course, activities throughout the day etc. I cannot wait to return to Mexico for either Cabo or Puerto Vallarta with Vidanta!
