Henna Rood powder is not pure contrary to what it says on the packaging ! BEWARE! The ingredient list shows only one ingredient which is lowsonia inermis, while the bleached parts of my hair show a residue of indigo ( naturally blue plant ) after a few applications. Natural henna is coppery, not deep red. It will turn darker copper after a few applications which was my intention. However if it contains indigo, it will become deeper and cooler overtime and will stain the lighter strands of the hair "blue, green etc". I bought it only because it told me it has 1 ingredient so I assumed it's a regular PURE henna. IT'S NOT ! I don't understand how it is not mentioned on the packaging! !!! Since indigo and henna are super permanent - IT'S SCANDAL ! frequent overlapping of indigo leads to brown and in the end dark or black hair !!! So if someone thinks they bought a pure henna - they expect only copper. It's wrong JACOB HOOY! I won't buy anything from you anymore! You don't care about the quality or source of your products
I don't understand how a Calendula cream that is supposed to be made out of natural, herbal ingredients has "Perfume" amongst its ingredients... Quite dissapointed by this; not to mention it itches on the skin when its supposed to soothe...
When you walk through the doors of Jacob Hooy, you are taking a step into history. The shop opened in 1743 as a 'droogisterij', which literally means 'seller of dry goods'. This was at a time'when the Netherlands ruled the waves and ships were returning laden with exotic teas, herbs and spices.
Miraculously, many, probably most, of the shop's original features have been retained to this very day. Everywhere are rows of beautiful antique wooden containers for storing and dispensing the wares. The place resembles a museum rather than a shop and the senses are heightened by the complexity of pleasant aromas which pervade. The golden crown on top of the entrance indicates that Jacob Hooy are Purveyors to the Royal Household and have become a household name throughout the Netherlands.
At the end of the long counter which stretches through most of the premises are rows of glass jars filled with a large assortment of licorices, ranging from sweet to salty and created from only the best ingredients. These are served in triangular brown paper bags and you can "mix and match" so to speak. If you are a liquorice lover, once you've tasted these, you'll never want to go back to a commercial brand again.
There is a nice selection of raw and Manuka honey and numerous types of tea. If you're thinking of putting your feet up, there are various slippers and footwear created from the finest wools. During the winter, they stock an excellent selection of thermal socks. Further, there are all kinds of creams and ointments, cooking oils and of course, herbs and spices. The adjoining shop on the right-hand side has hundreds of vitamins in various strengths and sizes, along with items such as mouth-wash and toothpaste and sun lotions and creams.
The company behind Jacob Hooy have their own extensive manufacturing and production facilities and are major suppliers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers across the industry. Their success in recent years has been due to the legislation of CBD oil, of which they are the major supplier in the Netherlands and are struggling to keep up with the demand. As the cost of oil is still relatively expensive, be sure to look out for their occasional two for one offers, when you get two of any CBD product for the price of one.
Some people confuse the business with being a pharmacy. It isn't, so you can't get a prescription filled here.
Nice and beautiful place but be careful though it is not a real pharmacy and you won't be able to get prescriptions like antibiotics there.
Very good service. Very polite personnel. And not expensive.
The interior is quite beautiful, a real historical monument.
Recommended.
