The Hammer & Quill

Really mellow spot. I was on a walk with my family and needed a glass of milk to calm my daughter down. The bartender ran over to the General next door and brought me back a glass of milk. Way to save the afternoon for us! So due to the hospitality I came back later that evening to check out the vibe. I ordered a couple beers (great selection) and I’ve been coming back ever since. We just moved back to South Bend from Chicago and I’m amazed at how beautiful they have made this city. Hammer and Quill is a perfect representation of South Bend, mellow, clean and beautiful. I will continue to drink here.

Hammer & Quill is the nightlife half of The General. By day it's a coffee shop serving tasty sandwiches, soups, and salads and by night delicious cocktails, paninis, pupusas and more. Located across from the newly renovated Howard Park on the East bank of South Bend, this is a new iconic South Bend spot worth checking out.

Great place for a drink and hummus plate. We enjoy the sandwiches, too. Outside seating helped distancing. Friendly and efficient.

Friendly atmosphere, creative cocktails, exceptional selection of spirits for any palate and mood. Staff is knowledgable and will pour you the perfect drink for what you're after!

Took forever for anyone to come to our Table and take our order or to even acknowledge our existence in the establishment....
