Capitol is no longer vegan.nnCapitol used to be one of my favorite spots around town until recently. I had been visiting Capitol since the very first week of their opening, it was an awesome environment to kick back, do some karaoke, have some of their fine drinks, and (most of all) enjoy the delicious Of Roots and Blooms vegan menu. Many I know who supported this business did so from opening, most because of how good the food was, the IPA Mac was the best Mac n' Cheese in Portland in my opinion.nnHowever within this last week Capitol has changed hands to new ownership and management, and decided to make changes to the bar. They've decided to cut the vegan menu entirely, and now offer food from next door at Pastini. Upon their customers negative reactions to this, they have now started limiting and deleting comments on their social media posts.nnThis isn't the early 2000's, if a restaurant says they offer vegan food, but you have to call around and make modifications to existing food to MAKE it vegan, then it isn't vegan food. I actively have quit going to places like this, and many vegans would agree with this, it's a lot nicer to just order something off a menu, than call staff, ask a bunch of specifics on what can be on the plate or not, and then hope that there aren't mistakes, no?nnIf you wanted to run a bar that offers meat and vegan food, you should not have purchased a VEGAN bar. The people that built your business have an ethical problem with meat, and are more than willing to stop supporting businesses that break their trust.nnI sincerely recommend you start a new instagram before you 'Streisand Effect' yourselves further, a large portion if not a majority of your followers are vegan, and have followed you since before Capitol was even open. Interesting exp. Great wings. Had a bad experience at first but the owner recognized that and communicated it through. Solved any issues

Capitol boasts a tasty all-vegan menu, a nice selection of craft beers, generous, refreshing cocktails in mason jars, and friendly service. The Buffalo Bowl was excellent, just spicy enough, and was satisfiying even after a day of hiking. They have all the Covid physical-distancing protocols in place so you can feel safe dining there. I only wish I could have used one of their private Karaoke booths, but hopefully next time.
